Predictive Biomarker in Neonatal Chronic Lung Disease Pathogenesis

Chronic Lung Disease (CLD) develops primarily in extremely low birth weights weighing <1000 g who receive prolonged oxygen therapy and or positive pressure ventilation & it has been observed by pulmonologists that the clinical spectrum is broader in children than in adults, and that many of these disorders have different courses and treatment responses.

Biomarkers could help neonatologists plan optimal management and risk stratification of their tiny patients which could guide targeted enrollment of high-risk infants into randomized trials of potentially novel treatment strategies.
