Migraine Treatment is different for kids : It is not just a bad headache

Migraine headaches is affecting 5% to 10% of the pediatric population worldwide, the most common reason for headache presentation in pediatric neurology outpatient clinics. Chronic Migraine is one one of the most disabling types of migraine occurs when a child has 15 or more headache days per month lasting more than 4 hours, for more than 3 months. Before puberty, boys suffer from migraine more than girls. Children's migraine symptoms are unique and may not respond to adult treatment methods. Migraine pain is so intense that migraineurs often can't think or function very well during or immediately following episodes. Creating a calm, quiet and safe environment and soothing the child for the duration of his or her migraine can provide tremendous comfort during what may be a painful and scary experience. Indicating that colic may be the earliest sign of migraine attacks, it has been linked to migraine later in life.
